වි·ජෘම්භණයකරනවා, v. to spring, leap forth, පනිනවා, frolic, පෙංකෙළිනවා.

වැද්දා, n. archer, දුනුවායා; one of the Veddah race, who are archers living in the interior jungles of Ceylon, and are supposed to be the aborigines of the iband; pl. වැද්දෝ.

වි·නය, n. (වි emp., නය proper, leading), propriety of conduct, as modesty, mildness, decorum, reverence, obeisance, submissiveness, submission, religious obedience, sp. fulfilment of the duties of the priesthood; discipline; sorcery; book so named, being one of the ත්‍රිපිටක. E. S.

වේදාංගය, n. (වේද අංගය), branch of knowledge or of the Veda; there are six such regarded as subordinate parts of the Veda, viz. ශික්‍ෂා ශාස්ත්‍රය, learning, sp. pronunciation; කල්ප ශාස්ත්‍රය, religious ceremonies; ව්‍යාකරණ ශා ස්ත්‍රය, grammar; ඡන්‍දශ්ශාස්ත්‍රය, prosody; ජෝතිශ්‍ය ශාස්ත්‍රය, astronomy, and නිරුක්ති ශාස්ත්‍රය, glossography or science of explanation.

ව්‍යානය, ව්‍යාන·වාතය, n. (වි emp., ආන breath inhaled) one of the five vital airs, the one said to be diffused throughout the body.

වෘෂභ·ධ්වජයා, n. Bull-bannered one, ap. of ශිව.

විහායසයා, n. bird, කුරුල්ලා.

වසන්·සැර, n. lit. fascinating arrow: ap. of Cupid.

වෘද්ධ්‍යාජීවයා, n. (වෘද්ධි ආ:), one who lives by interest, money-lender, usurer, පොළියෙන් රක්‍ෂාවෙන්නා.
