වේදාංගය, n. (වේද අංගය), branch of knowledge or of the Veda; there are six such regarded as subordinate parts of the Veda, viz. ශික්‍ෂා ශාස්ත්‍රය, learning, sp. pronunciation; කල්ප ශාස්ත්‍රය, religious ceremonies; ව්‍යාකරණ ශා ස්ත්‍රය, grammar; ඡන්‍දශ්ශාස්ත්‍රය, prosody; ජෝතිශ්‍ය ශාස්ත්‍රය, astronomy, and නිරුක්ති ශාස්ත්‍රය, glossography or science of explanation.

විට, n. what suffices for one occasion, as බුලත් විටක්, a quid of betel; pl. විටි, විටවල්.

විසිෂ්ඨ, විශිෂ්ඨ, n. name of an eminent sage or Rishi, (එනම්) ඍෂියා; a star in Ursa Major, E. S.

වි·පණය, n. (වි emp., පණ් to sell), selling, sale, විකුණුම.

වේ·ගුරු, n. (වේ for වේද), teacher of the Veda, ap. of Brahma, මහාබ්‍රහ්මයා.

වි·වාහිත, a. married, කසාදබැඳපු.

වාක්‍යාදේශය, n. (වාක්‍ය ආ:), gram. enallage. E. S.
