පුරාණය, n. One of a class of H. sacred and poetical works, which are said to have been compiled or composed by the poet ව්‍යාස. Of these there are eighteen, with eighteen supplementary works called Upa Purana, උප පුරාණ. They treat of the creation, destruction and renovation of worlds, the genealogy and achievements of gods and heroes, the reigns of the Man us and the transactions of their descendants. These works constitute the H. theology, and are much studied.

ප්‍රීති·වාක්‍යය, n. joy-utterance or joyfulsentence, sp. Buddha's exclamation of joy on the day of his last birth, viz. I am the most exalted in the world; I am the chief in the world; I am the most excellent in the world; this is my last birth.

ප්‍ර·දරය, n. (ප්‍ර emp., දෘ to rend), rending, ඉරීම, splitting, පැළිම, breaking, කැඩිම; fracture, කැඩුම; arrow, ඊගහ; menorrhagia, මහ ලේ රෝගය.

පිට·වෙනවා, v. i. to go or get out; extend beyond, protrude.

පර·සමය, n. heretical religion, religion other than Buddhism, මිථ්‍යා ආගම.

පරි·චර්‍ය්‍යව, n. service, සේවය‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍, සේවය කිරීම; worship, නමස්කාරය.

ප්‍ර·යාණය, n. setting forth, depaitnre, පිටත්වීම; going, යාම journey, ගමන.

ප්‍රේක්‍ෂණය කරනවා, v. t. to look at, view, reconnoitre, බලනවා.

පණුවන්·දමනවා, v. to generate or produce worms (in a sore).
