පතඦලි, n. (පත fallen, අඦලි hands joined for respect or devotion), name of a sage, the author of the Patanjali or Yoga philosophy, who is said to have fallen from heaven into the hands of Pānini whilst engaged in devotion; also the name of the author of Mahābhāshya or commentary of Pānini, and of the Charaka, a medical work: also ap. of the poet Vararuchi.
