Each one of these, expressing the observance generally, is subdivided into උප, secondary, and පරමාර්ථ, paramount or supreme: expressing an inferior or pre-eminent observance of the duty, as දානෝපපාරමිතාව, referring to gifts of secondary or inferior kind, such as gold, silver &c., and දානපරමාර්ථ පාරමිතාව, to gifts of the highest kind, such as wife, children, one's own body &c. These make in all සමත්රිංශත් පාරමිතා, viz. a total of thirty පාරමිතා.
