අගම් පඩි සේනාව, n. household retainers or attendants of a palace who are paid in grain.

අත වැසියා, අත වැස්සා, n. page, valet, servitor, retainer, follower, acolyte, disciple.

අත් අඩංගුවේතබාගන්නවා, v. t. to keep possession of, retain.

අධීනයා, n. dependent, retainer, වසඟයා, අත වැස්සා.

උක්කුජ්ජ පඤඤයා, උක්කුජ්ජ ප්‍රාඥයා, n. person of retentive mind, who is like a vessel right way up which retains what falls in.

ඕ, n. The fifteenth letter of the alphabet. It is a long o which retains its initial sound to the end, and does not, like the English long o, terminate in oo: consequently it is a broad and, to English ears, a bightly vulgar sound.

කබඳුව, කබන්ධය, n. headless body that retains its power of action; water, වතුර; abdomen, උදරය.

ග්‍රහණ·ධාරණය, n. acquiring and retaining (instruction).

ධාරණයකරනවා, v. t. to place, fix, deposit, තබ නවා, පිහිටුවනවා; sustain, දරනවා; hold, retain (සිහියේ &c.) තබාගන්නවා.

පනා·බැම්ම, n. retaining wall.

බැම්ම, n. bond, ligament; retaining wall.

රාහු, n. The ascending node considered as a demon. In H. myth. his mother was සිංහිකා; he was a dragon-tailed demon whom Vishnu decapitated in his wars with the demons during his incaruation as රාමචන්‍ද්‍ර, but as Ràhu was immortal his head and tail retained their separate existence and in the stellar sphere became the cause of eclipses, especially the head by attempting from time to time to swallow the sun and moon. The B. account differs considerably from the above, but agrees that Ràhu causes the eclipses as above said. Ràhu's head went to the North and his tail, කේතු, to the South and became respectively the ascending and descending nodes. See Hardy's Manual of Buddhism.

වසඟයා, n. one in subjection, subordinate, retainer.
