න, prefix, with a negative, privative or prohibitive force. Its normal form is නො, as නොකර, but its vowel is varied according to the vowel which follows and sometimes is merely න‍. Thus නාරින for නොඅරින, නෑර, for නොඇර, නේන for නොඑන, නූපන් for නො උපන්, නුදුටු &c., but not නී, as නොඉල්ලා, not නීල්ලා.

නි·කම්, a. mere, ordinary, common.

නි·කම්, ad. merely, only, idly, as නිකම් ඉන් නවා or තිබෙනවා, merely is, or is without employment or use, is or are &c. doing nothing.

නිමිත්ත·මාත්‍රයා, n. mere agent or instrument, කළමනාකාරයා.

පන්·සල, n. lit. leaf-hall: according to B. it should be a mere shelter made of interwoven boughs, but is now applied to any B. P.'s house attached to a temple: hermitage, monastery.
