අ ධෛර්‍ය්‍ය, a. without courage, down-hearted, spiritless, unenergetic.

අගන්‍යුත්පත්ති මනය, n. (අග්නි උත්පත්ති), plutonism: the opinion that the formation of the earth's crust is due to the action of fire.

අට තුනු, a. eight-bodied: ep. of Siva as seen in the sky, air, water, fire, sun, moon, earth, offering.

අද, n. for හද E. of හෘදය: heart, හිත; ball, පන්දුව.

අභි මතතාව, n. willingness, heartiness, eagerness, මනාප ගතිය.

අරටුව, n. heart or hard wood of a tree, duramen.

අෂ්ට දික් පාලයෝ, n. pl. regents of the eight cardinal points or divisions of the earth, අට දික්පතියෝ.

අෂ්ට ධර්‍මය, n. the law of eight, viz. the eight essentials for becoming a Buddha: 1 manhood, 2 the male sex, 3 merit, 4 to have seen a Buddha, 5 ascetic condition, monkhood, 6 virtuousness, 7 aspiration to Buddhahood, 8 a strenuous heart for it.

අෂ්ට මුර්‍තතී, n. pl. the eight forms or modes of Siva, viz. sky, air, fire, water, earth, sacrifice, sun, and moon.

අෂ්ට විද්‍යා, n. pl. the eight kinds of knowledge possessed by Rahats, viz. 1 knowledge attained by religious meditation, 2 knowledge of how to perform supernatural things, 3 knowledge of the various supernatural powers, 4 divine or supernatural hearing, 5 knowledge of others' hearts, 6 knowledge of previous existences, 7 divine sight, 8 knowledge of how to subdue the passions.

ආත්තා ගෙඩිය, n. bot. bullock's-heart.

ආමාශය දාහය, n. heartburn, pyrosis, බඩදාය; inflammation of the stomach, බ‍ඩදැවිල්ල.
