(වරම් chief), the four guardian deities of the four cardinal points and the four quarters of the world, viz. on the East, ධෘතරාෂ්ට්‍ර, chief-of the ගන්‍ධර්‍ව යෝ on the South විරුඪ, chief of the කුම්භා ණ්ඩයෝ; on the West, විරූපාක්‍ෂ, chief of the නාගයෝ; on the North, වෛශ්‍රවණ, chief of the යක්‍ෂයෝ.

සර්‍ව‍තෝ·භද්‍රය, n. (සර්‍වතස්, භද්‍ර), a square temple or palace with door-ways facing the four cardinal points; Vishnu's carriage; a form of military array: mystical square diagram; a peculiar form of verse that gives the same words and sense whether the lines are read backwards or forwds or in some other directions.
