අනු ග්‍රහකරනවා, v. to favour, befriend, benefit, bless, පිහිටවෙනවා, ආශිර්‍වාදකරනවා.

අනුමෝදනාකරවනවා,, v. t. to make to share in අනුමෝදන්කරනවා (the merit and benefit of offerings &c.), සහභාගි-පංගුකාර-කරවනවා.

අර්‍ථ චර්‍ය්‍යාව, n. beneficence, bountifulness, තෑගි වන්තකම.

ආත්මාර්‍ථ සිද්ධි, a. serving one's own interest, beneficial to one's self, ස්වකීය ප්‍රයෝජන සිද්ධකරන.

ආත්මාර්‍ථය, n. self-interest, one's own benefit, ස්වකීය ප්‍රයෝජනය.

ඉෂ්ටය, n. good, benefit, යහපත, වැඩ.

කෘෂ්ණ, n. Krishna, who is supposed to have been a real and complete incarnation of Vishnu, and quite distinct from Vishnu's ten other avatārs or incarnations. He is said to be a mild and beneficent deity. Ap. of Arjuna, charioteer of the sun.

ගුණ·දායක, a. beneficial, efficacious.

ගුණය, n. quality, property, attribute; good quality, virtue, excellence, goodness, යහපත් කම; efficacy, benefit (as of medicine &c.), බලය.

තුෂ්ට·වරය, a. boon, benefaction, a gift out of good-will, සතුටු තෑග්ග.

ධර්‍මතාව, ධර්‍මත්‍වය, n. law-state, viz. a state consistent with law or religion, righteousness, equity, justice, morality, beneficence, religious merit, ධර්‍මමිෂ්ඨකම &c.; inherent nature, ස්වාභාවික ගතිය.

ධ්‍යානය, n. B., meditation, profound contemplation, concentration of the thought and purpose in order to obtain Nirvāna, such an intentness of mind that it is supposed to exclude objects of sense so that they are unperceived or make no impression. Previous page -- 312 -- second, is one of finding or joy (ප්‍රීතිය); the fourth, චතුථි ධ්‍යානය, as the result of the third, is one of sound condition or satisfaction (සුඛය); the fifth, පංචම ධ්‍යානය, as the result of the fourth, is one of perfect mental quietude and repose (ඒකාග්‍රතාව). The following may illustrate the different stages. The first may be compared to thirst; the second, to the seeking of water; the third, to the joy of finding it; the fourth, to the benefit and satisfection derived from drinking it; the fifth, to the quiet repose and rest in the shade after the want has been satisfied.
