අග්නි දේවා, n. the Pleiades, the third lunar mansion, so called because අග්නිදේව governs this constellation.

අධ‍ව ගයා, n. (ග going), traveller, journeyer, ගමන්කාරයා; ap. of the camel and the sun because they journey: ඔටුවා, සූය්‍ය්‍ර්‍යා.

අනන්තයා, n. the infinite one: ap. of නාගරාජයා, so called because he has two thousand tongues.

අමා මහ නිවන, n. great deathless Nirvāna, viz, deathless, because transmigration has ceased.

අරත්ත, අරැත්ත, ichneumon plant, so called because the mongoose is said to use this plant as an antidote to the poison of a snake-bite. [Ophiorrhiza Mungos.—A]

උන්මත්ත, lit, insane, poisonous: several species of the datura, so called because of their poisonous nature, see and උතක්‍ෂිප්ත and අත්තන.

එසේ හෙයින්, conj. because it is so, therefore.

කුමක් හෙයින්ද යත්, conj. = If one said wherefore, because, for, මක්නිසාද කීවොත්.

කුශ තෘණ, කුස තණ, n. arrow or razor grass, a sacred or sacrificial grass, ඉළුක්. It is said that on the occasion the Buddha attained his Buddhahood a handful of this grass being presented to him, he threw it on the ground under a Bo-tree and it at once became a seat for him.

කුශතෘණ, arrow-grass, Paspalum sanguinale (Gram.). It is regazided as sacred because when a handful of it Was given to Buddha by a Brahman he cast it under a Bo-tree and it immediately became a seat for him.

තවුතිසා·භාවනය, n. (fr. තාව three, තිංස thirty), residence of the thirty-three: name of the second divine world, to which thirty-three very eminent saints went direct from this world and became gods presided over by Indra.

ත්‍රි·පුර, n. name of a district; ap. of Rāvanā the Asura or demon who was king of Ceylon, so called because he occupied a district containing three famous cities.

ත්‍රි·භණ්ඩි, (ත්‍රි three, භණ්ඩි anti), a plant, so called because it is said to be antibilious, antiphlegmatic and autifebrile, see ත්‍රස්තවාලු.
