කාලජර, n. ap. of Siva; the country Kallinjer; a company of religious mendicants, තාපස සමූහය. Kallinjer, is one of the places mentioned in the Vedas as suitable for asceticism.

ගිහි·ගේ, n. household (opposed to asceticism), family state.

තප·නිශ්‍රිත, a. (තප penance), ascetic, devoted to asceticism, ශ්‍රමණ.

තපස, n. religious austerity, asceticism, penance; special duties of the different castes; dewy or hot season.

තපසංගය, n. (තපස් අංගය), ordinance pert. to asceticism, anyone of the thirteen ordinances to be observed by an ascetic.

තපස්·භාවය, n. condition of an ascetic, asceticism.

තපෝ·ගුණය, n. (තපස් ගුණය), practice or virtue of asceticism.

තපෝ·වෘඬ, a. trained or advanced in asceticism, තපසින් වැඩුණු.

තපෝ·වෘත්තිය, n. practice of asceticism, ascetic life or state, තපස්භාවය.

ත්‍රි·භවය, n. the three different existences or conditions through which all must pass before attaining Nirvāna, viz. the Kāma, the Rūpa and the Arūpa states. The first is a state subject to passions, and includes both human and celestial beings or gods so-called; the second is a state in which the passions have been exterminated by asceticism and only a spiritual body remains, which state exists in the ten Brahma worlds; in the third or Arūpa state there remains only the pure invisible spirit. This state immediately precedes Nirvāna or the complete extinction which Buddhism teaches.

තාපස්කම, තාපස·වෘත්තිය, n. asceticism, monachism, monasticism.

තාපසාකාර, a. according to asceticism, ascetic, hermitical.

තේ·කිසිනු, n. (glorious asceticism), Buddha's power, acquired by the severest religious austerities, of diffusing a fiery splendour from his body sufficient to illumine the region around him for many miles; ascetic observance or attainment so called, viz, fixing the mind exclusively upon the element of fire. ධර්‍ම·ධ්වජයා, n. religious flag-bearer, viz. professor or one who makes a show of religion by asceticism; a religions hypocrite, කුහක භක්තිකයා.

නිෂ්ක්‍රම·පාරමිතාව, n. observance of the duty of retirement from the world, asceticism, ගිහි ගේ අත්ඇර සිටීම, තාපසභාවය.
